Privacy policy
NeoKemetAI is an educational website about ancient Egypt. We aim to collect as little information about visitors as possible. This policy explains what information is involved when you use the site, and why.
Visiting the site
You can read every page without creating an account or giving us any personal information. The site is served as static pages by our hosting provider, Hostinger. Like any web server, its infrastructure receives technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the service, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This information is handled by Hostinger under its own privacy policy and is kept in short-lived server logs; we do not use it to identify visitors.
Analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from (country or city level), the device and browser type, and how people arrive (for example from a search engine or social media). We use this only to improve the site; we do not use it to identify you, and we do not use Google's advertising features.
Google Analytics is not loaded until you choose "Allow" in the banner shown on your first visit. If you choose "Decline", or make no choice, nothing is sent to Google Analytics. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Google processes this information underGoogle's privacy policy; analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account (14 months at most).
Cookies and similar technologies
NeoKemetAI itself sets no cookies. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named_ga and _ga_*) to recognise repeat visits. Your analytics choice is remembered in your browser's local storage (nk-consent), not in a cookie. Fonts are served from our own site, not from a third-party font service. Other third-party services described below may set their own cookies only when you choose to use them.
YouTube videos
Pages that feature a NeoKemet film show a preview image loaded from YouTube's image servers (i.ytimg.com), which means YouTube receives the standard technical information of that image request. The video player itself is not loaded until you click play. It then loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and from that point YouTube (Google) may collect information and set cookies underGoogle's privacy policy.
Interactive 3D models
3D models and their viewer are loaded from this site only when you choose to open them. No third-party service is involved.
Contact form
When you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you enter. The form is processed on our hosting provider (Hostinger) and delivered to our inbox through the host's email service. We use this information only to read and reply to your message; we do not add you to a mailing list, sell it or share it for marketing. The form includes simple automatic spam checks that do not involve any third-party tracking.
How long we keep information
Contact messages are kept in our email for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference, then deleted. You can ask us to delete your message at any time. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period according to its own policy.
Links to other websites and social media
Our pages link to museums, archives, academic publications and reference works, and our footer links to NeoKemetAI profiles on YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and Pinterest. Those links open the other site, which has its own privacy practices; we are not responsible for them. Following a social media link does not share any information fromNeoKemetAI with that platform beyond what your browser normally sends when opening a page.
Third-party services
The services involved in running the site are:
- Hostinger: hosting, the contact form and our email.
- YouTube (Google): video preview images, and the player once you press play.
- Google Analytics (Google): visitor statistics, only if you allow them.
Each processes information under its own privacy policy.
Children
NeoKemetAI is suitable for learners of all ages but does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Children should ask a parent, guardian or teacher before sending us a message.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted. Because we hold very little, the only personal information we are likely to have is a message you sent us. Contact us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site changes, for example if we add a new service. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
