The mask covered the head and shoulders of the king’s mummy inside the innermost of three nested coffins. It shows him wearing the striped nemes headcloth with the vulture and cobra of Upper and Lower Egypt on his brow.
On its back and shoulders is a spell from the Book of the Dead that identifies each part of the mask with a god, protecting the king in the afterlife.
